It is not the night before christmas and all through my house
children are playing thank heavens, not with a mouse.
Our stockings are hung but not with care
instead with a red ribbon too much weight it won't bare.
The children have yet to make their beds
because thoughts of cleaning have escaped their heads.
and I do not even own a cap
but I do wish for a long winters nap.
It is during this time there rose an important matter
So I sprang into action and located the chatter.
Away from my computer I ran in a dash
to prevent what was sure to be a crash.
The living room was dark not a light did glow
and I couldn't see well, something is wrong I know.
Then what to my listening ears do hear
snickers and laughter of the children near.
With a little boy so ornery and quick
I knew in a moment it was a trick,
Louder than ever their giggles came
hiding and laughing as I called their name.
Now morgan, Now samuel, Now bubby and sis
On with lights, On with lights, On lights and stop this
Find the switch by the door, Find the switch by the hall
dash away with this joke, dash away all"
